Membership:
Scottish Clan membership was never linked solely to surname but rather to a system of kinship. This kinship came in the form of actual relation, fosterage, and sworn fealty and can be historically attested. Likewise, the Clan Baird Society Worldwide membership is open to anyone who is descended from, married to, or any someone who is interested in the history and heritage of the Clan Baird.

Benefits:
Members receive "The Gryphon", a quarterly Society publication that focuses on Baird heritage, history, culture, travel and traditions. Members receive the book, The Memoriall of Baird, the history of the Clan Baird for free. They also gain access to the members only section of the website that includes a members only networking area. It provides access to our Society Genealogists, and for those that have genetic testing already performed, the ability to join in the Clan Baird DNA Database. Also, every couple years the Society plans a trip to Scotland, and members are first to know the details.

Clan Baird from birth.
The Fiery Cross is the ancient Highland call for the clan to gather from the Chief, summoned by runners carrying two burning sticks tied with a strip of linen and dipped in blood. Our modern "Fiery Cross" is this website, where our Commander Richard can call on his clan when needed, so we want to know where all our Bairds are.

We also welcome our Naesmyths, Bards, Beards, Beardens, Beairds, Barrs, MacWard, Wards, Bayards, Bayrds, Beirds, Bardes, and the many other spellings of the Colonies where we were sent at differing times and after different Risings and Wars. Some of us even chose to leave Scotland, but not many. Our aim is to bring our family back together from the great Diaspora of our Kith and Kin.

Furthermore we welcome those who would be a Friend of the clan, to join in celebration of our very rich, near 1000 year history, ancient Gaelic traditions, and modern culture all over the world.
